This is a decent free course in Italian by the US education dept.
Its in PDF file and can be printed off.
The beauty I find with this course is the way it expands, from the simple phrase to more complex sentences, without paying any attention to grammar, well not as far as I have read through it.
Having got a little bit into Italian and wanting to progress further I will be gving this a lot of time over the next month.
I will update as to my progress.
